On the Shelves

I still haven’t gotten to see the new Firefly movie yet, as I spent the weekend in Portland at Stumptown. We had a decent amount of traffic for the one day event, and it was a lot of fun being around so many independent creators. Although it drew an indy crowd that didn’t seem to be doing a lot of purchasing as a whole, we still sold almost as many books as we sold throughout the entire five days at Cascadia Con and picked up an encouraging number of new subscribers. The best feel-good moment was being approached by my favorite comic book store in Portland to stock our book on their shelves, so if you happen to live in Portland, you can check out Excalibur Books and get one of the copies we sold them. Special thanks to Chris Purdin, animator at Vinton Studios, for hosting us this weekend.

She’s written for IDW Publishing, Hasbro, Lion Forge, American Greetings and Scholastic, and her work has been discussed in Comics Beat and The Washington Post. Subscribe to the newsletter
