Summer in Seattle

It was a classic Seattle weekend… On Friday night we caught the Notorious Bettie Page at the Harvard Theater, which was very entertaining but I wasn’t sure what I was supposed to come away with in the end. What I did come away with was a nail in a tire, interrupting plans to go to Mt. St. Helens on Saturday with a huge flat. We walked all the way down to K-Mart before we decided we would really be better off if someone else fixed the flat, and once that was taken care of, there was still time to enjoy part of the day. We took the picnic basket out to Point Defiance and had wine and cheese in the grass while we watched the ducks and geese swim in the pond. I got in some frisbee playing and enough sun to burn my nose a little. There was also enough sun at last on Sunday to go out to Home Depot and get the rest of the herbs for the back porch. The porch is now a tiny garden sanctuary, with pots of sage, thyme, chives, mint, parsley, cilantro, basil, oregano and a timid attempt at growing chili peppers. It was warm enough to eat out there finally, so I used some of the mint and made mojitos (that link is worth looking at for the number of goofy times the narrator says ‘mo-JI-to’). This weekend gets an A+.
