Traveling to Texas

I haven’t been back to Texas in three years, but that’s where we’re going for Christmas. My parents have made brief visits to Seattle, and we’ve taken trips together to Vegas and to Disney World. But my home state and the extended family have taken second place to other priorities. I saved up a lot of vacation time at work and now we’re about to check out of Washington for two weeks to enjoy spicy food and warm weather. We gave it a lot of thought and realized that there’s really no good way to update the strip during our vacation. So rather than try to do something complicated we decided the best thing to do is to let it wait until our return. Scooter and Ferret will be going on a two week vacation starting next Monday and ending on the 8th of January. During that time we’ll be down in Texas taking a break during a season of traditional downtime at work.

Gusty Winds Blowing

You might have also heard about the big windstorm that struck the Seattle area, where we live, on Thursday. It turns out that storm was a much bigger deal than I thought it would be. Some people are STILL without power even today. Several people died in this storm as winds in some places reached hurricane strength. At our own abode we did lose power for a few days, and a few of those gusts made me feel like we were moving as well, house and all. Fortunately my parents were in town for just that one day to help celebrate the occasion. At least they got to see how my new place looks in candlelight. Sorry the dog bit you, Dad.

Sakura Con Confirmation

I just got my confirmation in last night from Sakura Con, so that will likely be our first show of 2007. Sakura Con is an anime convention held here in Seattle every year. This will be our first year attending this type of event and we are very excited. I’ve heard that anime shows can be a raucous and unique affair with costuming everywhere, and this particular show runs night and day for a long weekend. What a party! So everyone come out and support us at Sakura Con next year. We hope to be unveiling our second book at that event so we’ll keep our fingers crossed.
