Halloween decorations started going up at work several days ago, but it was a decoration bonanza this afternoon. As the aliens to the rest of our department’s Men in Black, we covered the outside of our cube’s with green cobwebs, black paper sky, glow in the dark stars and spaceship cutouts. Everyone has an alien costume, and everyone has prepared a Nerf gun. War begins tomorrow.
Last night we had dinner out on Hwy 192. Driving down the road, passing giant flamingo statues, neon magenta, all-you-can-eat lobster feasts, mine car mountains of miniature golf, seashell giftshops full of wrestling t-shirts and knock-off Disney beach towels, dippin dots ice cream shops, white stallion dinner shows, towering wizards attached to storefronts with outstretched hands and dragsters, I thought, so this is my town now. And I like it exactly as it is. Could use a little more neon maybe.
Puddin is safely back at home. She was very calm on the ride home from the airport but wiggly, she wanted to get all over the car. I had to go to work so she went to see her new home without me, and Scott says she went from room to room, crying and looking for me. Her first night back she slept on my feet and purred. Sometime last night she and the dog got into their worst fight yet where I actually heard Moose growl, and that’s never happened before, but I broke it up and no one got hurt. Puddin has been making herself comfortable in the bedroom window and getting up every morning with me as usual to roll on the floor and beg me to rub her back. My cat has moved with me seven times and is about as comfortable with moving as a cat ever could be.
