Pooker is a lively shelter dog who loves her adopted family. She’s a healthy, cute and playful symbol of many puppies who need a home.

Written in rhyme, There’s a Pooker on My Pillow doesn’t have a traditional story structure. Rather, it’s an adoring tribute to a couple’s sweet, fluffy and smallest family member. We learn how she got her name, what games she likes to play and how she arrived at the shelter.

Illustrator Richa Kinra Shekhar puts most of the art’s attention into the bands of color and swirls in Pooker’s fur. The imagery of Pooker’s fur is by far the most interesting visual.

More than anything else, the book advocates shelter adoption. It’s a positive message that the author clearly believes in and his joy is infectious.
